Jake and his team are very prompt and easy to work with. We have over 800 apartments in Madison and he is our go-to-guy for lock related issues, lock-outs, mass duplication, blank keys.

I dropped off 32 garage keys(on a holiday weekend) and requested sets of 10 on a holiday, he had completed the 320 keys the following Monday.

He helped us with our pull handles, we could not find the part to replace and he found it right away for us.

He is very knowledgeable about all things keys and the art of being a locksmith. I highly highly recommend him for any job- big or small.

So nice and so helpful not to mention how reasonably priced it was, I had to give the guy a tip. I bought a nice used door for my garage and wanted to keep the original hardware so I brought him the lock and he re-keyed it while I waited.

Wonderful customer service and the locksmith loved my dogs. I have a historic home and the dead bolts and levers they helped me pick out look really nice. I felt safe having them in my home and I love the quality of the door handles and dead bolts. The doors need a lot of refinishing and didn’t fit right, they took into account one of my doors was over 100 years old and after its refinished, it will look entirely original!

I don’t live in the area but wanted work done at my dad’s house, I asked some friends in the area for recommendations and they all said they heard good things about Chucks. They couldn’t have been more correct! Not only did Sam from chucks talk me through everything, he was very understanding, came out on a Saturday, he went to Home Depot, and waited for me to return. I would highly recommend this business, very honest and extremely fair prices. When I asked my friend how much he thought everything I wanted done should cost he thought close to $600… nope it was like $350… I thought it sounded too low for all the work. Please choose Chucks

I had a great experience and Brad was extremely helpful. He was able to cut duplicate keys that aren’t available at a typical hardware store and did it in a quick time frame. He was also very upfront with the costs which was greatly appreciated. I would definitely recommend Brad and 1st Choice Lock & Security and will be using them again in the future.

Best service! I went to Ace Hardware first because I didn’t know better, and they were unable to help me because my keys were that unique. They recommended that I go to Badger Keys, saying “they can make you any key you want”… and that they DID! I sat and waited for about 5 minutes and I was out the door with 2 brand new keys! I am so relieved!!! Won’t go anywhere else from now on! Reasonable price too!

I do not like this smoothing out that you do of the keys and then charge more for it. I went back and got them remade without that “service”. If you do that then you lose some of the teething and if you try to make a copy of that copy I am very concerned that at some point your keys won’t work anymore, as so much of the original key shape was removed. The ones without that “smoothing” work wonderfully in all of my locks. I will never have that done again. I want the key that is made to look exactly like the key I put in there. I don’t want it to look weird and flat. I don’t care even if it works, I don’t think that’s a good idea. What if I give that key to someone else and then they try to make a copy of that and they smooth it out even more? Pretty soon you won’t have any teeth at all! I think that’s a bad idea.
Also there should be a way to cancel or go back during the process because I made a mistake and I picked the wrong key design for the wrong key and there was no way for me to go backwards and redo the order. I had to just get three keys made that I didn’t want and then get three more made, so it cost me more money. I thought that was terrible. I had two different keys and I just accidentally picked the wrong style for the wrong key and figured it out while it was still setting up, but I couldn’t stop the process.
Also I think the old key machine that used to be at the Walmart used to have more pretty key options available. It seems like the selection on this one is more limited.

Update: I had an issue with 1 key and they have refunded it, so I am adding stars for great customer service, I might try again at the kiosk or go somewhere else. Original, Used the Keyme kiosk at Menards to make 2 copies of a key. 1 key works, the other you have to play with the lock to get it to work. Looking at how it was cut, it has a few rough areas in the cut. It was going to be for my child but there is no way she will reliably be able to get it to work. This was almost $8 for a single key. Going somewhere else next time to have one made.
