Tuesday afternoon, I had the awesome pleasure of meeting Mr. Maurice, The Southern Lock Doctor. He was very courteous and professional. Despite me not having the lock readily available, he waited patiently (while I was spazzing out because I thought I knew where I left it). He arrived promptly at 2pm to install a digital smart lock to my front door. Without delay he started installing the handles and deadbolt and was done well within an hour. Normally, this service would have cost $200 or maybe even $300 but it was no where near that price. So I am very thankful for Mr. Maurice dedicated services to our communities. I informed him I would definitely use him again in the near future.

We have used Paul professionally dozens and dozens of times, with the services ranging from security re-programming, chip key replacement, lock cylinder reflashing, etc. and he has always been punctual, courteous, and fair. UPDATE: so so sorry! Was checking my TEXT spam folder today (10/20/25) and came across the text receipt that was thrown in there. I didn’t even realize there was a spam for texts box!! So I apologize and updated my review to 5 Stars. Just know to check your text spam folder on your phone if you’re waiting on the text for a long time!! (A printed receipt option would still be nice though!!)

Made 3 copies of the key I needed. They worked, no problem. My only issue is there was no option for a PRINTED receipt (which is what I would have preferred) but it forced my to give my # for a text receipt. The text receipt never came through but this text asking for a review did. So here is my review.

Called last night because an elderly neighbor was locked out of his house and asked for help locating a locksmith. Initially they were helpful and even helped us through some communication issues (language barriers). Came into town for the holiday and we accidentally locked ourselves out of the cabin we rented. The owner did not live nearby and no other key close by. We were leaving the next morning on a Sunday. Called Mountain State Lock and the owner was 100 miles away but said he could stop after and help me out. Price was great and service was great. Definitely saved the day.

I brought a set of keys to Ashley’s so they could make a knob and a deadbolt to fit the two keys accordingly. The lady took my name and phone number, as well as the keys and said they would call me, it was well over a month before I decided to go to Ashley‘s. Where they never made the locks that I requested, they misplaced the keys. I gave them and the phone number that was attached to it all. I am a contractor and this particular interaction caused me to take 30+ days to install a simple lock and deadbolt. After installation, the homeowner refused to pay me because it took so long. I also brought them a mailbox key for them to copy, the one that they made me will not even fit in the keyhole. I have brought it back to them twice and even requested my money back. I still have the key that doesn’t fit and never got reimbursed for my mailbox key that doesn’t fit!
