Unfortunately my key does not work properly. So Im giving this one stars. I will be going back to Lowes for a refund. Thank you. Ive never had this problem with the machine making a key that does not work, but today it happened.

Update: I am ammending my review because KeyMe Locksmiths reached out to me after I wrote about our experience.

They were professional and understanding and offered my wife a full refund. I understand that they can’t always strictly police the locksmiths on call as much as they’d probably like, but they did go through the effort to see that we were only out time and effort instead of time, effort and money.

So for what it’s worth, if you do decide to give them a try, I think you should feel confident that if you do have a terrible experience, the higher ups will try to set it right.

-just make sure the guy coming out to check your locks isn’t named Fredy T******.

Shameful service.

Sunday night, May 3rd 2026, my wife had locked herself out of her room close to campus. We make a call at 8:30 to “KeyMe Locksmiths”. We’re told we’ll recieve a call back from someone who could come.

My wife gets the call back and tells me just the serfive fee for getting out there is $9.00, which seems really cheap to me. So cheap that I assume there has been some kind of misunderstanding.

He arrives slurring his words and apparently reeking of booze. He then quotes us $293.00 in total to open the door. It’s a standard rounded 5-pin lock. This seems pricey for the work required. My wife puts me on the phone with the guy. I ask if he needs to drill it. He says that no he doesn’t need to drill it, but since it’s rounded he won’t be able to get leverage and pick it either. I ask how he’s going to open the door, and he says there is space he can work with between the door and the frame- so I guess he was planning on shimming it? For $293.00?

Whatever.

I say I think that the price is too high and I ask to be put back on the phone with my wife. He says he’ll just take the $39.00 service fee and leave. I try to talk with my wife and tell her that just coming out to take a look was $39.00, not $9.00 which I expected was wrong all along. While I’m trying to explain it to her he just JUMPS in and starts insulting both of us-

$9.00?! NO ONE WOULD COME OUT FOR $9.00! WHAT ARE YOU STUPID?!

No man, my wife misheard you on the phone (if you didn’t purposefully mispeak) and I’m trying to explain it to her, but now you won’t stop verbally insulting us.

We try to explain that it won’t be an issue, we’ll still pay- but this “locksmith” is too busy actively insulting us. We literally can’t get a sentence out edgewise. My wife hangs up to try and calm him down. He keeps insulting her and then me who he calls her stupid boyfriend.

If I had still been on the call I would have refused to pay him anything. Anyone who works in the service industry should know better. We’re out $39.00 for someone to come out here and try and hose us another $250 for shimming a $20 dollar doorknob while insulting us.

She paid him and sent him on his way and knocked the doorknob off with a towel and a hammer.

Save your money and energy and dignity- go somewhere else.

Came to me & unlocked my car when I was stranded ! Came when he said he would & quickly. He was very polite, professional & pleasant. When I initially called with my issue I could tell he was very informative, when he showed up he told me what the issue was right away. This guy is VERY knowledgeable! & honest. I am giving him five stars but I’d give him 6 ⭐️ if I could ☺️

Absolutely 10/10 service.

I was in a tight spot and needed a key remade for my 2023 Toyota Camry at the last minute, and this guy truly came through. Despite traffic and time constraints, he showed up quickly and handled everything with professionalism, efficiency, and kindness.
