We lost the fob for operating our 2013 Prius. We still had the other one , but I want us to have two. I called Prime Car key and Yosef came to my house and made the new OEM one the same day for less than half what the dealer quoted.

Out of nowhere the plastic shell for my Honda keyfob decided to crack in half and the key blade itself was holding on for dear life. The dealership/stealership quoted almost $400 for a replacement. I found Lance’s shop after a Google search and very happy I did. Lance advised he would have to order my specific key fob and he needed a couple of days to order. Came back a few days later and was pleased to get the replacement key for a quarter of the price. By the way, I was also impressed with his professionalism and patience in answering all my “dumb questions”. Highest of recommendations!

The description here is misleading; there are no locksmiths in Walmart. There is just a key machine, which can make a key for you if it’s one of the common blanks that it has. Apparently if it isn’t you can also have it send a picture of your key or something somewhere and get a key back eventually, but that’s not the same as talking to a human locksmith.

Overall, Minute Key is great. I like the idea of having a digital key saved in their system but having to go to the kiosk to retrieve the key didn’t cut down on time, unless you lose the “only” key you have. I was looking to make more office keys. I would have liked having the option to make the request online and have the key sent to me in the mail. Just a thought.
