I’m probably not the best person to do a Google Review of a key maker machine company – but they asked so here it is.

For starters, my stepdad, who has been in my life since I was 12 – is a locksmith. I was raised in a lock shop.

I needed to make a key to the house I have in Morgan City, since we were only given one key when the previous occupants moved out. I didn’t think we needed to continue to leave a key hidden on the porch for all of us (family) to use.

As far as the overall experience, I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars, if I didn’t have to go through what seemed like 15 questions to get the process started would have made the difference.

However, I WAS COMPLETELY SHOCKED WHEN IT ASKED IF I WANTED IT TO “clean the key” aka remove any excess shavings for an additional $2.99 PLUS TAX.

I selected NO since I already know how to properly clean pieces (shavings) off of a newly cut key or “shave it down” without paying a machine an extra $3 (that’s already charging me $6 plus tax to make the key) to do it for me. This should be automatically included with the purchase. I can assure you the little spinning brush that cleans the key doesn’t cost an additional $3 to operate.

Other than that there were plenty of choices for key designs. I thought the prices for the design keys were a little bit high, however, I realize the prices of the keys have to reflect the operating costs.

I also found the instructions to push the key into the tiny silver slot a little confusing at first, but I do know that by placing the key you need copied into a snug slot will have a much better outcome vs laying it on a flat surface or trying to stick it into a slot that it will fall out of while trying to go through the process of selecting your options, making a payment and then waiting for the machine to start.

Bought some smart locks online and had them re-keyed to the same key. Dropped them off and picked them up the next day. They know what they’re doing and though there are other locksmiths closer to me, I’ll continue using Amite Key and Lock for any locksmithing needs I have in the future.

Key did not work. Would give zero star rating but have to pick at least 1 star to post. Also key is overpriced. Had a key made by a local company near me and only cost $1.85 and that key worked just fine. Would like a refund.

I needed a couple house keys for my daughter’s new apartment and the hardware stores were closed. Very easy to do , and they worked first time. A little on the expensive side , like nine dollars a key. But it was worth it for the convenience.

He’s never there I have driven over to the building multiple times he.s closed or you will see a note on door closed today.
I have drive to Topeka to get service. You can’t call either do it on line. Door hours don’t seem to matter at all.
