09/19/2025 – I called for a lock smith and when I spoke with someone, I specifically asked if they had experience with picking Thule Cargo boxes. I was advised yes and someone would get back to me in 2 minutes.
The person arrived, and tried to open the lock. It took several attempts and a multitude of tools. The lock was opened. I purchased a new Thule Lock (since I lost the keys) with comes with a change key. I went today to try to use the change key and realized it would not fit in the lock. After examining the lock, it appears that when the person attempted to pick it, he jammed the key hole closure inside the key hole, breaking it. I know for certain that this was not broken before because I was able to insert a key, the last time I used it and the cargo box has been sitting in my garage since.
Guy will not accept responsibility. It is obvious after examining the locking mechanism, that it was destroyed while attempting to open it. Now I am left to pay someone else to drill it out and hopefully not damage the cargo carrier, or purchase a new one. Had I thought a ‘professional’ locksmith was going to break it prior to telling me there is no other choice, I would have saved the money to put toward a new box.
Now my Almost $1K Thule is ruined because I now cannot insert the Thule change key, to remove and replace the locking mechanism.

Giving a 1 star because at least the guy was nice when he was here. I just wish I would have been advised in advance the lock would be destroyed or that he did not have experience with unlocking Thule cargo carriers.

This is a scammer locksmith, do not use them.

They did the job but charged 5x what they had quoted, and refused to leave until they received payment. When I complained they refunded some; then later when I started asking too many questions (via text) they refunded an additional amount.

It was my fault for not noticing there were no reviews and that the address provided is actually a toy shop and a dentist.

The weird thing is they actually replaced the lock and the guy was quite nice. Now I have to replace the lock they replaced, lock my credit card, and do identity theft monitoring.

I don’t typically write reviews, but I was so impressed by Tal that I feel compelled to share. I called him after losing my car keys, expecting a quick replacement. What should have been a simple install turned into a much more complicated situation due to issues with my car.
Tal put in many hours over several days, returning multiple times without charging me anything beyond the original quote. When it became clear that the problem required a mechanic, he referred me to someone trustworthy with fair prices and followed up afterward to make sure everything was resolved. He even sent one of his team members to handle the final touches—again, without charging extra.
Tal went above and beyond at every step. He was clear, communicative, and highly reasonable with his prices. I am incredibly grateful for his professionalism and trustworthiness (especially after some less positive experiences with other autosmiths). I felt in good hands throughout the entire process, and I’d recommend him to anyone.
