I requested help to pick and rekey 4 door locks, with all locks rekeyed to use the same key. These were standard interior and exterior door locks with a simple design. The technician arrived and was able to pick all the locks very quickly (within about 5 minutes). The rekeying took a bit longer, but everything works properly and the job was completed in under an hour.
Overall, I’m satisfied with the workmanship, and I especially appreciate that the service was available on a Sunday.
The reason for the 3-star rating is the pricing and lack of clarity upfront. The technician did not clearly explain that the lock-picking fee was charged per lock, which led me to believe the picking cost would be combined for all four doors, while the rekeying would be per lock. I was therefore very surprised when the total came to $1,600 for less than one hour of work.
Another concern is billing transparency. I did not receive an itemized receipt, and although I wanted to pay via credit card, I was told there would be additional credit card fees, which resulted in me paying via Zelle instead. This was not ideal and felt somewhat unprofessional for a service priced at this level.
In my opinion, the service is very expensive. If you only need assistance picking a single lock, this may be acceptable. However, if you have a situation similar to mine—multiple doors with multiple locks—I would recommend getting quotes elsewhere before proceeding.
