These guys are absolutely Great!! Locked myself out of my Semi Truck. The response was quick, the price was very reasonable, and the service was amazing! Not to mention my truck was unlocked in about 5 minutes.

It’s good to see a business that still cares about the customer.

Thank you so much again!!

As a property manager, the kiosk machine works great. I have every key registered on my portal. If a tenant should need a key replacement, then it is easy to email them a digital copy of the key. Also in the event that I need a key for maintenance, it is less expensive to have a key made from my digital key database that drive back to the office to pickup a key.

These are only a few examples how this has been a great help

Shelley helped me out over the phone everything was as easy as it could be. After my vehicle broke down across town from where I live Travis went and picked it up and towed it to the shop for me. He called me to let me know he made it to the drop off and even texted with pictures showing that he had left it in a parking space and was going inside the shop to give them my info. I would recommend Tow Monkey to anyone in the Birmingham area who needs tow services. 10/10 amazing work, customer service, and fair pricing!

So, let me preface this by saying that because (after my getting fed up and programming it myself) my key looks and functions fine, and none of the employees were explicitly rude, I’m giving two stars rather than one. However, there was a massive lack of communication both to me and between the employees.

Went there recently to get a spare key for my car. Pay the 110 up front, they tell me they have to order it, and will call when it gets in. They follow thru. No issues yet.

I show up that evening, have to wait about 5 minutes before anyone comes out to the lobby (I’ve worked in a repair shop so I get it, sometimes you’re busy, but I would’ve appreciated a ‘Hey, I’ll be out in a minute.’ That said, seemed like the guy was out back and on single coverage so that likely was not an option, fair enough.). He cuts my key, and then goes out to program it. Tells me that he’d have to erase my current key to program the new one (this was not mentioned until now, way after I paid ahead for both the cutting and programming), and that if it didn’t work, it’s possible that not only would I be left with no working key, but i would be on the hook to pay to have my vehicle towed after they erased my perfectly working key. Seems kinda odd, so I tell him I’ll think about it and come another day.

Two days later, I get a call, “Hey, your key has come in, when will you be by to pick it up?” I explain I already have been. He apologizes and says that was never notated so he didn’t know. (Again, repair shop, know how it is.). I explain the situation. He tells me that its true that some cars make them erase the old key, and in that case, they refuse the service, contradicting with the other guy offering. I ask if I choose to go forward with the service if I’d be the one paying for a tow truck if it went south. He tells me that’s correct.

I look online and find multiple videos explaining how to mechanically program the key for my specific model of car, and suggest I might just do that to my parents. They say that since the programming is included in the $110, I shouldn’t have to (and I agree that I shouldn’t have had to, but I sure wish I had after the first failed attempt.)

My parents made the initial call in before my visit, so I have my dad call, because, maybe I’m the issue here, and just wording stuff badly (I’m not, but benefit of the doubt and all.)

They say that while occasionally they have to erase keys, that they have a specific worker there who used to be a locksmith and can handle it no problem. (Would’ve been great if I was told that either time.) They say nothing about the customer being on the hook for the cost of a tow truck. They also say that programming your own key can be risky. Unfortunately, that worker is only in while I’m at work. OK, fair enough, I’ll take a long break.

I call today, to verify that guy is working. He says he is, but that he doesn’t actually know if my key has arrived yet. I tell him that’s absolutely not true, explain the situation and that I was told to ask for him. He comments he wishes his team would have told him that, because he had no idea, but that yeah, he should be able to take care of me no problem. He comes out, and tries the first tablet. No luck. Brings out the second tablet, it’s dead. Does not tell me this up front, and so we just sit there for about 10 minutes, before he asks me if I’ve got a while to wait. I tell him, no, this has already taken longer than I thought it would and I need to get back to my job, and finally just ask if I can take the key I paid for and program it myself, without their machine-like I saw in videos- and just come back another day if that does not work. He says he doesn’t think that’s possible, but I can try.

I search “*my car* programming keyfob” on YouTube.

I click on the first video.

I follow instructions, and within 3 minutes the key works flawlessly.

I leave and vow to not try this again, lesson learned.

Store is pretty clean and organized well though.
