  What a difference 5 weeks makes! I visited Apex Lock and Key Locksmith 5 weeks ago for a hollow barrel skeleton key to which I was told a better place to go for "antique" skeleton keys, but the gentleman asked what I wanted done. I explained I just needed the key cut as I purchased a replacement key online and the bit was a lil too long to fit and turn the lock. He took my key and lock and came back about 60 secs later with it cut and working in the lock. The place had 3 others waiting to be helped and he was able to assist me efficiently and move on to other customers. Great. I get home and realize once the lock is back on the door, the added thickness from the door made the barrel of the replacement key too short to reach the lock. I ordered 2 more replacement keys with longer barrels and take them back to Apex Lock and Key Locksmith. I was helped by one assistant who took my key and lock to cut (this time I was the only customer). Another associate returns to my car and informs me they don't do "antique" keys here and to go to North Raleigh for assistance. I explain 5 weeks ago I came here and had the very thing he is stating they do not do here, done. A gentleman that worked here came out and helped me out in a matter of minutes and things worked perfectly. Alas, he kept regurgitating "I'm sorry we don't do that here". He did tell me it may have been the owner that helped me (by my description), but he wasn't in today. I'm so confused and disappointed by this as I had such a pleasant initial consumer experience and 5 weeks later I feel like I'm being rushed off like they are too busy to assist and no other customers were there to assist. I guess the moral of the story is to "know your staff". The vast discrepancy of one associate to another is enough to keep me away from this place even for cutting the keys they do cut.

  We appreciate positive as well as negative customer feedback, when warranted, as it helps us to better run our business. During your first visit to Apex Lock and Key our locksmith told you that we don't service antique keys. He recommended two locksmiths in Raleigh. He ultimately was persuaded into giving it a try anyways, against our policy, just trying to help out with the best of intentions, for free. The second time you stopped by and felt we "rushed you off" our office manager recommended two separate places that specialize in antique keys but you did not want to drive to Raleigh. I really don't think he was trying to rush you off, rather he was trying to send you to a place that would be experts at fixing the antique key problem you had. The first and second gentlemen that you dealt with are both excellent people and have worked for me for five and seven years respectfully. We know each other very well and are a tight knit team of highly trained reputable locksmiths. There is no mention of the fact that you returned to our store a third time to meet with me after leaving this review. I came into work and fabricated your antique key on my day off, for free. We do not offer this service and never plan to, this was simply motivated by being dedicated to 100% customer satisfaction. John Thomas Owner of Apex Lock and Key NC Locksmith License 0880

  Other locksmiths start at 150$ for just opening a little cheap fire safe. Mobile mercenaries of Durham... This local store charged $25 to make a lost key for my little fire safe and open it. Wonderful and fair. Amazing... Don't go anywhere else!

  Juan came out to fix a few doors around the house. He did a fantastic job and had it all fixed in less than an hour. I will recommend them to my friend and family and would call them if I ever had an issue again.
