This is an easy, inexpensive, quick way to get a good key copy made. I've never had a key from this machine NOT work in the keyhole.There are two things I don't like about it: the screen keeps trying to upsell you (but it's just a screen and it's easy to say no); and the key doesn't have the small metal filings brushed off at the end, so you have to do that yourself.

I went to Lowes to have some keys made. There’s no one around the key area, and I hate having to track down employees to help me. I had noticed a Minute Key machine as I was walking through Lowes, so I decided to check it out. There were no prices showing, which made me a little hesitant, but I inserted my key anyway. I first selected the key type (mine was a house key), and prices showed up. The plain brass key was $4, but if you buy two you got one free. They had fancier keys like a UNC key for $6. I bought an assortment of keys, and the entire process was quick and easy. I also opted for a free “digital copy,” which was sent to my email. They give a guarantee that the key copies will work flawlessly, and every one I got worked as well as the original. I would absolutely use this machine the next time I need a key copied.

Got 3 keys done. Zero work in the locks. Store cannot refund. We’ll see if Minute Key refunds. TBD. Highly recommend waiting for real human to do it manually rather than using Minute Key. It actually turned out to be faster with the real human. Also, it’s a lot cheaper to just use the store instead of minute key
