Alan was the most responsive home service professional I’ve ever worked with. From the point I contacted him to job completion was only three days. I had two big drawers in a butler’s pantry that needed to be fixed and a smart thermostat that I needed to have installed. He fixed a loose door handle without me even asking. Would highly recommend him. Friendly, professional and very reasonably priced. Most importantly, knocked some things off our home to-do list that had been there for way too long.

Amy I appreciate your kind words. The joy of being a handyman is helping folks with their repairs, meeting new people from different walks of life and being presented with new challenges every day. Making customers happy and seeing the smiles on their faces after completing their repairs reminds me why I chose to be a handyman. Let me know if I can help you again with your home repairs. Alan

Alan is awesome. We have used him twice for different projects. He is detailed oriented and efficient. We will always have projects in a 60 year old house and Alan is just a call away. We recommend him with 10 stars.

Jimmy I enjoy the challenges that customers' jobs present and finding a viable solution. Seeing a smile on a customer's face after completing their job brings me satisfaction and joy. Let me know if I can help you again. Thanks. Alan

We contracted Alan to install 2 nest thermostats , 2 storm door stoppers, and a Yale front door lock. He was able to install one of the nest thermostats, but could not get the second one to power on and said we would need to call an AC company to come out and rewire something under the home. He was unable to install the Yale door lock due to issues with our door. He was only able to install one of our storm door stoppers because one of the old stoppers screws would not come out for him. The one door stopper he did install was installed incorrectly and is not functioning as intended. I sent him a text with pictures and he never responded. Alan was friendly and was responsive to texts initially which is why I gave the two stars, but we were disappointed with the outcome. We completely understand that things come up and projects don't always go as planned, but I don't feel that the way he handled it was very professional. After I paid him, he left without saying anything. It seems like he has performed great work for others, so maybe it was just an off day but we did want to share our experience.

      Response from the owner

I arrived at the scheduled time to perform the agreed upon services. There was a Honeywell thermostat on the first floor and a Trane thermostat on the second floor. After removing them and installing the Nest thermostats I informed Harold that he needed to download the Nest app so the thermostats could be set up and tested. The second floor thermostat work correctly but the first floor thermostat would not power on. I contacted a heating and air conditioning professional to troubleshoot. After a few conversations and texts with the professional, he informed me that the wires in the thermostats were correct but the wiring on the first floor had to be changed under the house where both units’ wiring was located. The professional told me that the new thermostat on the first floor would not work with the existing wiring. I showed Harold that when the bottom thermostat wires were jumped the first floor system powered on. The professional stated the common wire had to be connected to the second floor unit to work correctly. I advised Harold that a heating and air conditioner professional would need to rewire the bottom unit for the first floor thermostat to work because I was not qualified to do that work. Harold said he did not want to pay for a thermostat that did not work correctly so I advised him that the old thermostat would be reinstalled. I installed his old thermostat on the first floor and the unit worked. I removed his deadbolt lock to install his electronic door lock. Because of the way his deadbolt lock had been installed, additional work would have to be performed to possibly get his new lock to work. Due to the multiple issues I declined to install it. I removed his top closer and installed a new closer. The door bracket on the bottom closer could not be removed because the screws were rusted and the heads had been rounded off from the original installation. I attempted to cut the bracket with a multipurpose tool but could not. I showed and advised Harold the issues involved on his door lock and bottom closer. I asked him if there were any other repairs that I could help him with before leaving. In all my estimates I provide a quote which is good as long as there are no unforeseen complications. I encountered multiple unforeseen complications but only charged for the installation of one thermostat and one closer. After completing other scheduled jobs I did not get home until late in the evening and was not able to return his text. After viewing his photo this morning I noticed the hold open clip is in reverse order which is easily fixed by removing the closer’s holding pin and reversing it. I take pride in the professional services offered by myself and go beyond what most folks do. Calling a professional to troubleshoot and at no expense is an example. I do not think Harold values professional services due to his initial comment to me while I starting on his repairs. He stated that I “had a pretty good gig, no overhead and everything is profit”. I informed him that there are a lot of expenses such as the 2021 Toyota RAV4 payments, a few thousand dollars in tools and over one thousand dollars in business insurance.
