Richmond Security made me several keys in less than 5 minutes. Much faster than the big box store to even find someone to assist you.  Not to mention each copy was less expensive than the big box store's costs. Jesse assured me if the keys didn't fit he would make it right.  He was correct the keys fit better than the copy he made it from.

I had Richmond Security install some Medeco deadbolts on a home I closed on in November 2016, and they did a fantastic job installing these deadbolts. I also used them to get a padlock keyed the same as the Medeco keys, as well as another one keyed like the levers on my door. I also used them to get a replacement lock for a storm door. The staff in store and the person who came out to my home to install the locks were both fantastic. I would definitely recommend Richmond Security if you would like to have some high security locks installed in your home.

I have had the privilege of working with David at Richmond Security for the past 3 months. I can easily say excellent customer service is provided at this company. I called in 10 days prior doing price checks on key cutting services. I said, "I have a blank car key that I need cut to match my current car key", They said, "That will be $10". Great. So I go in there today and all of a sudden, "Oh we don't cut customer supplied keys. You have to buy one of our special keys which is $75." What a racket, with deceptive customer service practices as well. Only go the Richmond Security if you like being lied to and then ripped off.

Bridgette: What you were told is correct. We do not cut customer supplied automotive keys. Our keys are not "special" and would cost 2x as much to have the same $75 key made at a dealership. BTW, you don't "have" to buy anything from us if you feel you were misled.
I have never confronted a poor customer review on Google negatively and always offer to make right any problems a customer may have had. However, I do not appreciate your assertion that our business practices are "a racket, deceptive, lies and we rip people off". Making such slanderous statements is dangerous and not acceptable, in spite of the fact you can do so behind the shield of the internet.
I am more than willing to have a conversation with you via telephone or in person, so feel free to contact me directly. Whether you do so or not, I am sure I will get a much different version of the conversation that you had with the shop technician, as he would be fired immediately if what you say is true. Professional, efficient, and helpful. My car key broke in half and I had no clue what to do next. I took it to Richmond Security because it was recommended to me. I walked in and within 5min had a new key to my car after being told by another company that the key was impossible to replace. Very happy and would use again in a pinch such as this.

Great local business. They cut my special key in a few minutes. What home Depot and Lowe's couldn't do in 30 minutes. I walked in and out in less than 5 minutes. Please support local businesses like this so we don't have to deal with idiots at the box stores

If you don't know EXACTLY what you want, these guys don't wanna waste time with you. I asked to see what padlocks they sold here and was asked what I wanted to secure. I guess I didn't have a good enough response, I was very hostilely asked if I planned to buy anything (notice I still hadn't been made aware of what padlocks they sold) or if I just wanted information. I decided this was time to go. As it happens I collect locks and was planning to spend a few hundred if they had any high-security locks. Would've been spent there if he had just shown me what they had in stock. I went to American lock and key after and they went as far as to take me back into their stockroom and show me all kinds of stuff. I'd suggest going there unless you have a huge commercial job, seems like this is all these guys want.

However, assisting a customer, whether they are gathering information with the intent to purchase or not is never a waste of our time (we like locks, too!).
