I had to go in to get a few proprietary keys cut, and they were very knowledgeable about the whole process, and made it very easy to do. Super fair prices as well. In addition to this, I got my Honda CR-V remote key replaced in under 10 minutes. Highly recommend for anyone looking for phenomenal service. Roy and Nathan made the visit easy, and fun.

I would definitely recommend Mike's Metro Lock & Safe as they have great customer service! On Mon eve I sent an inquiry thru their website and had an email response Tues morning (that alone is amazing as I've encountered several companies that never acknowledge online inquiries). I decided to stop in to their office on Ingersoll on Tues to discuss the issue further instead of calling/emailing them back. They answered my questions and setup an appt for the next afternoon to come out and look at replacing a door knob on an older door. The day of appt they actually were able to arrive earlier than the scheduled appt (YAY!). I wasn't onsite for the repair but they promptly called me after the work was completed and informed me of the work that was done. I will definitely use this company again as they have great customer service, are very responsive, friendly & professional and I thought the cost of the work done was very fair.

We had a lock on our front door that wasn’t working but because of the design couldn’t replace it ourselves. Justin came out within 30 min of our call and provided thoughtful options after inspecting. What I appreciate most is that as soon as he saw me reach for my mask he pulled his out as well. No questions. No issues. He was able to make the replacement quickly. The work was great and he was just a really nice guy to work with which felt like a breath of fresh air.  We will definitely hire them again and cannot recommend them enough.

Visited to get a my oddball storm key copied, after a local hardware store was unable to make a proper copy.  Super reasonable cost, and the copies they made worked great.  While I was there, I asked the guys in the shop about getting a keybad lock on my door.  They walked me through all my questions and explained what it would cost.  One week later Nathan came out and installed the keypad lock and it works like a dream.

Evan was great!! We just moved to a new home and called to get our new house re-keyed. Evan came out same day, offered advice and options based on our current doorknobs and locks, including prices for everything, and completed everything quickly and professionally (even in 90 degree temps). We will definitely use Metro again when the need arises!

We needed to replace a lost key fob and after checking several options received  a prompt call back and had all serviced in less than 2 hours!   Our technician Nick was prompt, professional and I can only say great things as far as our experience.

I called to see if they could get me a duplicate key for my daughter's car. He told me he would have his coworker call me when available. I'm still waiting.... I called back 2xs. No response.

2016 Honda Accord ignition cylinder needed replacement as key would not turn.  Phoned in for appointment at 9:00 AM, dropped car off, and work was completed by early afternoon.  Very satisfied with service and professionalism of the staff.  Saved hundreds of dollars by not taking the dealership route.

A ABSOLUTE HUGE thank you to the guy from Mike's Metro Lock & Safe!!! I lost my ONE AND ONLY key to my truck while hunting and was told these guys would take great care of me. I took them a fob that wasn't working.  Roy cleaned the fob and checked the battery and got it working. He didn't charge me and he could have told me it wasn't repairable and sold me a new fob. I was so impressed that he was honest and didn't sell me me a new fob because lots of businesses would have.  I highly recommend them because they were so honest and put saving me money, instead of taking advantage of me. The staff is outstanding and I will use them if I ever need anything with keys or a fobs.

Roy and his coworker were great in helping me get my new schlage keypad rekeyed to match my existing deadbolts. Very fast at just 5 to 10 minutes and extremely friendly. Price was great too! Will definitely use again for any rekeying I need.

These guys are the best shop in town. Had an issue with my ignition cylinder lock binding up and needed to get it re-keyed. Called about five other locksmiths, none of them would work on it. These guys were the only ones who would take a look at it. When I came in the shop, Roy quickly re-keyed the cylinder right in front of me, even though I could tell he was busy on several other projects. Great guy, did solid work.

Needed a key made for my car without the original which can be expensive. I called other places and didn’t get an answer but Metro responded quickly and got the key made in under 30 minutes. Very polite, reasonable price, and they don’t try to up-sell you on things you don’t need. Great service and (hopefully) I won’t need them again but I highly recommend to anyone who does.

I lost my key (the only one I had) and had a different locksmith come out to make a key.  That person screwed up and erased the keys out of the system and left me without a working key.  I found the old key, and Mikes Metro Lock & Safe came out and made a new key and got them programed in.  These guys are professionals from start to finish.  I'll never bother with any other locksmith again.

I would highly recommend this company! They came to my apartment to create a duplicate key. My car presented to be quite a challenge, but Kurt was persistent in solving the issue. I now have an extra key/key fob for my vehicle. Great service at a great price. Will use again in the future without a doubt.

I purchased a key fob for my car, because the one that came with it was in bad shape.
Unbeknownst to me, a driver needs 2 programmed key fobs to program a third.
The leaflet that came with the new one suggested I would be in need of a specialized locksmith per their own recommendation - the nearest one to me is in Omaha.
I looked up locksmiths in the area and found Mike's Metro Lock & Safe. I emailed them to see if they would be able to take care of it and they said they could. Within 2 minutes of me walking in the gentleman there got it working! All for about $50!!

Excellent Service and Experience! Would recommend to all my friends & family! Half the price the dealer was going to charge me; plus towing! Chun drove right to my house! If you are in dire need of a locksmith- this is the place to go! My dog got ahold of a key fob and destroyed it, Metro had someone out to help me the next afternoon, the same day I called. They were prompt, fast, friendly, and reasonably priced my 2016 Nissan Rogue. I highly recommend!

These guys are awesome! The guy who worked on my car was very nice and professional. Price was AT LEAST half what i would have paid a dealership. They came TO MY CAR (no need to have it towed!) and fixed it right there, within an hour. If you want to get your life back after loosing your keys, these guys are your best bet.

My man Chun was there in a hurry. Judgement free, friendly, and took maybe ten minutes to do a brand new car key? Great locksmith.

I can't tell you how happy I am with Mike's Metro Lock and Safe. We thought we were going to have to tow my car to a dealer when the ignition locked up. Mike's was able to come to us, fixed up the ignition, and got my car going again, and for a substantial savings! We also had them replace one of our keys. Since the electronics still worked, it was just falling apart they were able to reshell it for less than half of a new key from the dealer. The guys were very friendly and knowledgeable, answered my questions didn't make feel dumb. I could not be more thrilled.

Kurt did a great job!  We needed duplicate keys for our campers and sheds.  We had them done elsewhere previously and one set wouldn't work at all and the other set was hard to maneuver.  We had Kurt do our sets and they worked perfectly.  Slid right into the locks and the price was very reasonable!  Thanks again Kurt!

On Saturday I went in to get a duplicate set of keys made for my nephew's car because I had lost them while borrowing his vehicle for a week while mine had body work done.  I met Mike (the owner) and he was very professional and efficient.  I didn't realize that I needed to have the actual vehicle there because the key had to be matched to the vehicle with a chip.

So I pre-paid for the new keys and also bought a remote lock/unlock key fob.  I then told my nephew that he just needed to swing by the following week and pick up the new set.

The following Monday (today) my wife found the lost set of keys in her coat pocket so I called Mike to cancel the order.  He reminded me that all sales are final and I remembered seeing that sign in his shop.  So I felt bummed.  But we talked it through and he wound up reversing his position and agreed to give me a refund, against his own policy.  I was surprised and extremely grateful, which is why I wrote this review.  This business deserves all our support!!!  I won't go anywhere else for my locksmith needs.

Kurt came to my Sisters house and cut and programmed the keys to both of our 2015 vehicles in minutes, for almost HALF what the dealership wanted, using OEM keys. No fuss, or waiting involved! Very disappointed.  The dead bolt I needed repaired couldn't'be serviced.  The tech made the evaluation just as he stepped out of his truck.  The tech who answered the phone could have done the evaluation over the phone and saved me $60

Their fast, friendly and professional service exceeded my expectations.  Nathan took good care of us, and represented the company well.  I was also very pleased with the price.  I would definitely use them again or recommend them to anyone.

At first, I thought they were great. Now I know better. Let us begin: my wife's 01 lexus rx300, the ignition lock cylinder was having issues. The key would insert but not turn. So i remove the cylinder and take to the shop. They say they can repair/rebuild. Great! Just what i was hoping for! Get the part in about four pm, their shop closes at six. Get a call the next morning that job is complete. Reinstall in vehicle, give it a few turns and it works great. 2 days later, i leave the state for business. Later that evening, i get a call from my wife stating that the key is now stuck in the ignition, won't turn, and won't come out. Luckily, she and our 6 week old son were at her parents,' and they lent her an extra vehicle for the evening. I told her to call the place that fixed it and see what they can do. This is where the fun begins. She explained to me that the gentleman on the phone was very rude; insinuated that she had done something to cause the issue, and insisted that she have the car towed to their shop for repairs. After some back and forth she gets them to agree to come to the car to make the repair. The technician gets the old key out, and explains that there are two wafers that are bent. He then removes these, without replacing them, and charged my wife again to fix something that I had just paid to be repaird days less than 1 week, probably less than 10 key turns, prior. Needless to say i will be using a different service in the future.

I was locked out of my car. I locked the keys in the trunk of my 2019 Toyota Camry. I called Triple AAA, they charged me $75 and were not able to help me. We couldn’t pick it so he made a key for me that worked. I couldn’t be happier with the service. If you ever need a locksmith be sure to call Mikes Metro and ask for Chun.

Earlier this afternoon, I was just getting off a 7-hour shift at work when I discovered my keys were locked inside my car! I called Mike’s Metro Lock & Safe and Chun was immediately on his way. When he arrived, he immediately shook my hand with a big smile and introduced himself. Once he got his tools out, he made friendly conversation and not ONCE did I feel like an idiot for locking my keys in my car. I feel like this a lot with other car companies especially since I’m a girl. I was so relieved that this was not the case with Chun. I will always call them in the future! Hopefully I won’t need to, but nevertheless, they will be the ones I call. Highly recommended!

My truck chevy 2006  equinox  has been broken for a while but on top of that i had to come accross the problem with my car key getting lost and not having a spare.  I was advised to call Mike's Metro and within 15 minutes Chun was on my driveway. In less than an hour Chun had my two key ready plus a dpare key for my mothers jeep. It was nice to know that they work with keys that have a chip in them and at a very affordable price.

Our daughter called to tell us that she lost her key to start her car. We live in Wisconsin and she is at school in Ames IA and we were getting ready to head for vacation when she called. We called another locksmith and they were very sketchy and came back with an outrageous estimate so like most of us, we called around. The next place we called was Mike's Metro Lock and Safe. Very professional on the phone, very reasonable and able to assist immediately. Mike's Metro was able to get the job done and we had no worries. Our daughters car was a chip car and they were able to get her new key immediately. I would strongly recommend Mike's Metro Lock and Safe if you need a locksmith!!

Chun is a master. And the while staff is so helpful, after other companies couldnt help me and I was at wits end into getting into my car. I call up metro, and they send out Chun, who pops the lock in less time than it took me to get AAA on the line. Highly recommend

Would not go to. I paid to have a key reprogrammed and it failed the next day.  They would reprogram a new key, but I would have to pay for the service again. Essentially interested in money over customer service.  Also had to wait about 20 minutes to get helped and it took them less than 10 minutes to reprogram the key.

Our apologies for the confusion Adam and your unsatisfactory interaction. This is our greatest concern when asked to utilize materials supplied by the customers.

To the point, we do not charge a separate fee for programming the products that we sell. However, to meet your's and many other customer's requests, we will attempt to program supplied products, for a nonrefundable fee. This was explained to you and agreed upon, in detail, at the time of service. Costly resources are consumed on even a failed attempt at programming keys and remotes to cars.  Thus, we can not offer it for free.  As to your specific grievance, we did everything in our power to execute on the request you made. However we can not warranty products supplied to us by our customers. It is unfortunate that your remote failed in such a short amount of time and that is why we have offered you a discounted solution to your problem, which you, up to this point, have declined. Going forward we must use our product, that is the only way we can offer you a warranty.

Our discounted offer still stands if you would like to stop in the shop and speak with either Roy or Mike. We would like to reach a satisfactory result for all parties involved. Also please bring the failed remote in with you so we can test it & attempt again at no additional charge.

These guys are great!!! I locked my keys in my car on a Sunday afternoon. They drove quite a ways and we're here within an hour! Super nice guy and the prices are awesome!

Excellent service! Got a key made for my husband and I's 03' VW Passat. Most people say you can only get a VW key from the dealer, and dealers are NOT CHEAP. These guys can do it for a VERY reasonable price, and in a decent amount of time. Programmed and everything! Highly recommend!

Great experience. My key fob broke and came in to the shop to get it and a replacement made. Took less than 15 min to get 2 new fobs made. Reasonably priced.

These guys are the best.  I called them near the end of the day to program and cut a key, they were at my house in less than 30 minutes and programmed everything and were gone in 5 minutes.  They charged a very reasonable price too.

I did not get the name of the gentleman who helped me, but it was not Mike, nor Roy, nor Chun.  The other guy!  Brought a safe in thinking that I'd just have it picked and then have to dispose of it since they don't make the blanks for that lock any longer.  45 minutes later I walked out with the same safe with a newly built lock.  He tore apart the original and just rebuilt it so it would take an in-stock key.  They certainly could have just threw their hands up (like I about did) and said eh just drill it out.  Having never needed a locksmith before...I know damn well who I will call the next time I do need one.  Thanks, Metro Lock!  And to the gentleman that ended up helping me and saving me $300+ for a new safe...I hope you have a KICK ASS weekend!!

Instead of spending $500 at the dealership for 2 Audi keys I looked for 6 months and tried several options to find another source. Luckily I found this site and because of these reviews I gave Mike's a shot. It seems Audi's and Volkswagens are especially difficult. Kurt had 2 keys programmed and cut for me in an hour at a fraction of the cost.

I am very grateful for this company. They were very prompt in getting me into my locked vehicle, with the car and house keys inside. Very polite and professional. Prices were very fair as well.
