I tried Lowes, Home Depot, and a hardware store before coming to Hunterdon Lock and Key. I will not go anywhere else from now on. It is rare to find the kindness that the gentleman here has.  The service was quick and easy. Highly recommend!

Jim is very knowledgeable and helpful. I've been in a few times for different projects and Jim always remembers me and is friendly. They have a lot of options to choose from and prices are reasonable. I'm happy to support them as a local small business!

My first experience with Hunterdon Lock and Safe is proving a delight - head and shoulders better service and pricing than decades of experience elsewhere from Fort Lauderdale to Fort Lee.  Due to COVID, I can view the store from the front window and open door only, but what I see are the finest and most intriguing locksets and hardware.  This is where I would go were I looking for fine decorative door hardware.  But at my age, all I needed were a few Baldwin cylinders re-keyed.  Jim is treating me as if I were his most valued customer.  He quickly and perfectly re-keyed 2 cylinders.  I've one more to take him.  He showed me an interesting nuance I never knew about key-on-key deadbolt systems, how they're made, and an industry trick to install them.  I'm a do-it-yourselfer.  He didn't have to do that, but he did.  I'm pleased with his service, his hardware array, and his pricing.  He's a great old-fashioned professional artisan.  I took such a liking to him and the way he runs his business, I'll no longer visit a big box store even when I want just a brass screw or "Master Lock."  I feel as I've made a friend and supported my local small business.  He offers more than I can find at Lowe's or Home Depot.  After all, if I get locked out at midnight, who am I going call:  Home Depot or Hunterdon Lock and Safe?  I've purchased "locked out" insurance I can't get elsewhere and made a friend in the process.

No response. I contacted the center they told me that they would send somebody out within an hour. To this day they have yet to call me back.

Chuck and Jim always provide fantastic service, and are extremely knowledgeable!  The products they sell are top quality, I highly recommend stopping in for all things lockable!

Once I had to get a duplicate of an old car key that they didn't have a blank for. They did the cut even though I bought the blank myself, and other places would not do the cut unless I bought the blank from them.

The other was to replace a busted lock at my house. They came out that day and replaced only the parts that needed to be replaced and so the bulk of the charge was for the trip out to my house.

I am writing this review because I was locked out of my house.  The owner came to my house quickly (which is why the rating is a 1).  He spend 10 - 15 minutes maximum at my home and presented me with a $200.44 bill.  When I asked how the bill was calculated he said travel (10 minutes) and knowledge.  Excuse me, I always considered knowledge a given.  Oh, and I can stop at the shop and have some keys made ... all for $200.44.

There are plenty of locksmith places out there - learn from my mistake and make some phone calls first.

I was charged $300. to have a $20. Lock replaced.  Service call was no more than 45 minutes.  I contacted another locksmith, showed them the (invoice) bill,  the old lock, door frame and the timeframe it took for the repair locksmith to perform the job. Locksmith who gave second opinion said I was very much “ripped off” - cost should have been approx. $150. I would not recommend this locksmith company.
