  I have used Keys Plus in the past and have had good service. Had a new GM key fob that I obtained elsewhere, that I wanted to program to my vehicle. Keys Plus refused to work with me unless I purchased a key fob from them. I can understand their position if this was a random aftermarket brand, but I made sure to match the GM part number exactly to my one key fob that still worked. An exception should be made if it is the original equipment key fob. Another local locksmith programmed it with no issues. I will no longer be using or recommending Keys Plus for any automotive needs.

  Hey Andrew, yes, it's true, due to liability issues with customer provided remotes, we have stopped programming them. Several times now a customer provided what looked like a genuine key fob and then while we were programming it, the vehicle's anti-theft device was triggered because it didn't like the key, and disabled the vehicle so that it had to be towed to the dealership for a re-set. We had always picked up the tab on both the tow, and the service fee from the dealership to re-set it. Once we even had to rent our customer a car while their car was waiting for the service. Most of the time, yes, the key fob is just fine and programs just fine. Like yours. But it's that handful of malfunctioning ones that we see a few times a year that has us just no longer even attempting them. We are glad you were able to find a locksmith who was willing to do it. We know many locksmiths still do, but more and more locksmiths are taking the same stand as us about them. We are a small business of modest means competing against multi-million dollar auto dealerships, so we have to very carefully weigh our risks. We hope this helps you to better understand our decision of erring on the side of caution. Take care and if there's anything else you ever need lock and key wise, please consider us.

  A quick, inexpensive ($46) key fob was what I was looking for and that's exactly what I got. Great, clean, well-stocked shop. And GREAT customer service!

  Did a great job helping me when my key broke off in my ignition. Got me set up with a temporary key until the new one with my fob came in (it had to be ordered). Very happy with everything.
