I brought in two blanks that I needed cut for my car. I had already programmed and tested them to ensure they would start the car and only need the have them cut. I was of course told that they would need to be programmed, and when I responded that I had already done so rather than leave it be and cut my keys the locksmith proceeded to argue with me that I hadn't programmed them and that they wouldn't work. They went so far as to inform me that the uncut keys can't be inserted into the ignition-as if I didn't know that-. After all of this argument they finally took my keys and were about to cut them when they informed me the cost was $35 each, I've had these same keys cut at the grocery store hardware store in Saint Johns for $2 before. I mentioned that and was promptly told to take them to Saint Johns to have them cut. So I did and it cost me $2 a piece. It's one thing to be rude, its another to overcharge for a basic service, but this place manages to do both.

Alan has done a couple jobs for us. His work was exceptional and he had great attention to detail. Will definitely call again with future locksmith needs!

Excellent, knowledgeable and professional, Allen (owner) at Flagstaff Lock and Key helped me cut and reprogram a smart key for my Ford F-150 in no time at all for a fair price. It was less than 90 minutes from the time I called him until the time he left. While it sounds simple here, the predicament I was in was harrowing and could happen to anyone. I was visiting Flagstaff and scheduled to return home the next day. My smart key bent so that the metal key separated from the plastic fob. When that happens, the key will turn in the ignition but the car won’t start. Like many people, we don’t generally carry a spare smart key with us when traveling. When I went to the local Ford dealer, I felt as though I was back in the 1950s: “Well, we don’t have one in stock; they’re on order.” And then, “Well, I can cut the key, but it won’t start the car because it has to be programmed.” What if I got a key made in Phoenix and shipped up to me? “Well, you’d have to contact the service department to schedule an appointment. I just do my job and they do theirs.” Then it was “Well, you’d have to bring the car here to have it programmed.” When I said the car is a mile away, how could I do that? The dealer rep shrugged his shoulders and said “Tow it here?” Flagstaff Lock & Key provides a mobile service, coming to the customer where the customer is. If not for Allen at Flagstaff Lock & Key Shop, my car could’ve been trapped waiting for a ford dealer from the 50s, and me in a horrible situation dealing with travel and logistical nightmares for days or maybe weeks. My suggestion: seek out the guy with knowledge. Highly recommended. Thank you, Allen.
