While it is a very simple process to have a key copied here - a great variety of keys, it is also an expensive one. You simply insert a key, teeth up, into the machine where it is laser processed. Next you select a design. There are a lot of design choices, though I can't say I was stunned..they make it seem like there are hundreds. Anyway, they copy a large variety of keys including special keys like medco keys. Prices are expensive for many..like $11 for simple keys like a kwikset. Granted the higher prices are reserved for certain designs..but they are the bulk of what they offer. Delivery is about a week.

I had a need to copy a key for my housemate for the past week but didn't find time in my schedule. So as I was walking into my local Rite Aid to do some last minute Sunday evening grab-n-go, I saw the sign for the KeyMe kiosk outside the sliding entrance doors and decided to check it out.

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience copying my key. The interface was quite intuitive, very simple to use and operate, and had some pretty nice graphics that guided me through the process. The whole thing took about 3 minutes.

The only minor hassle was needing to have a store associate authorize that the key did not say "do not duplicate" on it. Would be nice if the machine itself could somehow make that distinction (I know, spoiled consumer alert).

4 1/2 stars due to the sales associate authorization issue, otherwise I'd say it was a 5 star experience!
